OOWR and COVID-19: OOWR NEEDS YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER!

With the news about the novel coronavirus changing rapidly, you might be wondering how this may impact Operations Orphan Wildlife Rehabilitation and the animals. I wanted to take a moment to share what we are doing and how you can help.

WHAT WE ARE DOING:

First of all, as of today, OOWR remains open for business and committed to the animals as long as we are able. Many other rehabilitators in the park systems have already temporally closed. I have made and continue to make adjustments to minimize the health risk to myself and my family as we are both in the high-risk category. I will continue to take in animals as long as I feel our safety is not at risk.

With the temporary closing of other rehabilitators our resources are becoming stretched.

A. We are already entering our busiest time of year: BABY SEASON
B. With other rehabbers closed, our intake of animals is beginning to double and may triple or more before this crisis is over.
C. Our expenses to care for all the animals is rapidly increasing.
D. Programs that we have booked are being cancelled which means a lost of donations.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

First, If you are sick or have been exposed, do not drop off an animal. Instead ask someone else to bring them for you.

Second, what I can’t do is provide for the increased food and other costs of caring for the animals as our current funds are rapidly depleting. Our normal cost for food alone is $9000. To continue to stay open during this crisis, we need your help in one of these ways:

Ways you can help:
– Make a tax-free contribution by check. (Preferred).
– Make a tax-free contribution via Paypal.
– Donate items from our Amazon Wish list that will be shipped directly to us.
For a full list of how you can help, see our DONATE page of our website at: https://www.operationorphanwildlife.com/donate/

Any amount will help! A $2 donation can buy a bag of Spring mix for a handful of baby bunnies for the day. Any amount will help! Thank you in advance. – Fran Kitchen
