Baby beaver putting straw into its house to keep the cold out

BABY BEAVER UPDATE:

Engineering at it’s best!

Those of you that follow our page may recall that back in July, we posted a video of a 4 week old beaver. It was stolen from its mom in the middle of the night by people that were fishing and thought they would ‘save it’. The truth is, it should have been left alone as mom was not far away. This happens far too often when humans try to intervene when they shouldn’t.

It’s now December and the beaver is growing and living outside learning how to be a beaver. Even though this little guy didn’t have a parent to teach him, his instincts have kicked in and this is proof that the beaver knows what to do.

To give you a perspective of the work he is doing, the dog house in the photo by his work of art is 24 inches high. This Christmas when it was so cold out, he packed the hole (look closely to the right) he uses to go in and out of, full of straw to keep the cold out. It’s amazing to watch. It is more impressive in person. All of his hard work was done during the nighttime hours.
