This painted turtle was rescued this week from the terrible Tuscarawas River oil spill at Wolf Creek in Barberton.

We were so happy to see this turtle after not seeing one since the spill was discovered/reported by @oparuns fourteen (14) days ago. This lucky turtle was picked up by Fran Kitchen then off to Dr. Riggs for clean up. Our hope is that it survives and can be placed back out into the wild….

The last several Thursdays Operation Orphan has been joining the Barberton elementary schools for an afterschool ‘Animal Club’ . Fran brings in baby groundhogs, baby bunnies, and a baby squirrels and more, then talks to the kids about each. It has been one of the highlights of Fran’s week!
